Consistent Life (formerly the Seamless Garment Network) is opposed to the April 25 rally and march being planned for Washington DC by abortion advocacy groups NARAL and Planned Parenthood. Consistent Life is an international coalition for peace, justice and life based in North Carolina.

"The so-called 'March for Women's Lives' is actually a march for abortion," said Mary Rider, Consistent Life's executive director. "Abortion does not help women - it hurts us. I know many women who regret their abortions and few who actually think their abortions were a good choice.

"Consistent Life values all life, from the womb to the tomb. We want to see changes in society that will give women real freedom and equality, like freedom from poverty, racism and war. Abortion doesn't make women's lives better. It's a choice, but it's not a good choice."

In response to the march organizers' push for celebrity endorsements, Rider said she is saddened to see so many good people buying into the lie that abortion is what women need.
