Consistent Life Presence at 2014 Roe Anniversary Events
Note late change in location in red
Consistent Life (CL) will be bringing the consistent life ethic (CLE) message to events marking the anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision and related events again in 2014. We believe it is important to make the case for connections among the life issues, and for people who are already committed to the CLE to network together for mutual support and encouragement. We invite you to participate as you are able.
Here are some of the activities in which we plan to participate:
Washington, DC Area
Monday, January 20, 2014
The Cardinal O'Connor Conference on Life, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, 9:30 AM - 4 PM. We will have a table and people attending, as well as an insert in the Conference packet.
Tuesday, January 21, 2014
Students for Life of America National Conference, First Baptist Church of Glenarden, 600 Watkins Park Dr., Upper Marlboro, MD , 9 AM - 9 PM. We will have a table and people attending, as well as literature in the packet and an ad in the program.
Tuesday-Wednesday, January 21-22, 2014
We will have an exhibit in the Exhibit Hall at the official March for Life hotel, the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Ave. NW, Washington DC. The Exhibit Hall will be on the lower lobby level. Exhibit Hall hours are 9 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday, and 8-11 AM and 3-7 PM on Wednesday. We will be setting up on Monday evening, and taking down our exhibit on Wednesday evening.
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
- 11 AM - c. 2 PM - We will gather with several other groups in the For Peace & ALL Life meetup/march group on the National Mall side of the Natural History Museum (or as close as possible to that if there is intereference from stage placement), and then join the March for Life, which ends at the Supreme Court. The closest Metro stop is the Smithsonian, with Federal Triangle and Archives also being fairly convenient. Look for signs and banners with messages connecting different life issues. Feel free to bring your own signs.
- 12 Noon - 1 PM - March for Life Rally, National Mall (exact location TBA; official time for Rally - don't be surprised if it runs longer). We will carry our banner and signs, and distribute literature.
- c. 1 - c. 2 PM - March from Rally site to Supreme Court. We will continue to carry our banner and signs, distribute literature, and talk to interested people.
- 3 - 6 PM - Open house style gathering to network and discuss furthering the CLE, William Penn House (late change in location) first floor conference room, 515 East Capitol St. SE, Washington, DC, about 5 blocks directly east of the Supreme Court, where the March for Life ends. Organized by CL. Come whenever you can during this period. Some people will go out to dinner together afterward in the neighborhood.
San Francisco, CA
Saturday, January 25, 2014
Walk for Life West Coast, 12:30 PM, starting at Civic Center Plaza and walking to Justin Herman Plaza in downtown San Francisco. We will have a CL presence at the Walk and the Info Faire at Civic Center Plaza. Contact Lisa Stiller or Joan Baranow.
Other Locations
We know there are other regional and local pro-life observances of the Roe anniversary. We encourage you to help spread the CLE message at any you attend. Visit our downloads page for resources you can download, reproduce and distribute at any events. Let us know (see below) if you plan a CL presence at events, especially if you're willing to be a contact person for others interested in your area.
Contact Us!
To let us know you are participating and/or offer assistance, please email us. You can also call us toll-free at 866-444-7245; or call or text to 301-943-6406. These numbers are for advance information, and during DC events. If you call or text during the March for Life events, we will try to answer and help direct you if needed. However, due to the massive crowd, cell phone service is not always reliable on the Mall that day. Also, the noise level during the Rally and March is such that it is hard to hear one's cell phone ringing or sounding that a text has been received.
Sign

This No Violence yard sign can be adapted for use as a rally/march sign, and is available in our CaféPress store. The message appears on both sides of the sign. The regular price is $15.99. If you sign up at CaféPress, you will get email notices of sales, which are frequent and sometimes provide substantial discounts over normal prices. You will often not see those discounts on the site, but will have to enter a code that is in the emails. |
