Peace & Life Connections #245 January 30, 2015
CL atRoeAnniversary Events
Consistent Life played an active role in the many events last week that marked the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. At the March for Life in Washington, D.C., on January 22nd, CL took part in a press conference that launched the new Pro-Life Allies Coalition. Initiated by our friends at Life Matters Journaland co-sponsored by both CL and CL member groups Democrats for Life of America, Feminists for Nonviolent Choices, the Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians, and Secular Pro-Life. Pro-Life Allies aims to bring together as broad and diverse a coalition as possible to defend the unborn. A video of the press conference is available, and the new initiative received media coverage which mentions Consistent Life; see here and here.

In addition to joining the March, CL was well represented at the various conferences in the D.C. area that week. CL Board member Richard Stith and his wife Rosemarie staffed a table at the March for Life Expo on January 21st and 22nd; Bill Samuel and CL Secretary John Whitehead were present at the Students for Life of America's east coast conference on the 23rd; and John and CL Board member Tony Masalonis represented us at the Cardinal O'Connor Conference at Georgetown University on the 24th.

Meanwhile, on the west coast, CL Board member Lisa Stiller took part in the Walk for Life and accompanying rally in San Francisco on the 25th.
We received very positive feedback from other attendees of these events and look forward to these encounters fostering further advocacy for the consistent life ethic.

Quotation of the Week Dorothy Day
What we would like to do is change the world – make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves as God intended them to do. And, by fighting for better conditions, by crying out unceasingly for the rights of the workers, the poor, of the destitute – the rights of the worthy and the unworthy poor, in other words – we can, to a certain extent, change the world; we can work for the oasis, the little cell of joy and peace in a harried world. We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident that its ever widening circle will reach around the world
